A Journey in Music
Demiana Ibrahim, born and raised in Southern California, started her journey with stringed instruments on the violin at age five, and has been growing musically ever since. She joined her first youth orchestra at age 8 and has been involved over the years in various forms of ensembles, such as chamber music, choral accompaniment, and orchestras. Particularly through chamber music experiences, her appreciation for and understanding of other instruments grew, and she has added cello to her coaching and teaching repertoire since.
Building Community Through Music
Demiana graduated from Scripps College, majoring in Music with a focus in Classical Performance. She was a part of the Claremont Concert Orchestra for the past four years before relocating to Berlin.
She began teaching five years ago and is most experienced with beginner and intermediate students, both children and adults. She has been involved with programs such as the Music Mentors of Pomona Valley, which provides free music education in an underserved area of California, and believes in the power of music to foster and uphold community. She truly believes it is never too late to start learning an instrument!
Personalized Teaching for Every Student
Demiana’s philosophy around music is that it is one of the most powerful tools we have to strengthen and express both our inner selves and broader senses of community. In teaching, she focuses on each student’s unique connection with the instrument, and believes in the student having a large say in the direction of their studies, so the spark is maintained and the instrument remains exciting. Development and refinement of technical skills is an important part of her teaching, and she aims to do this with each student in a manner that takes their unique learning styles into consideration.
