Jazz and Pop Singing

At Global Music Academy, we have three teachers specializing in Jazz and Pop Singing, each bringing their unique methods and techniques to their teaching.

Sara Persico

In her lesson, you will learn topics including healthy, comfortable singing posture; an understanding of breath control; a healthy, sustainable singing technique, which encompasses a thorough understanding of both the low and high vocal registers (chest and head voice); an understanding of solfege syllables (or their numerical equivalent); proper diction with an emphasis on vowel pronunciation; the ability to read music; basic ear training skills, such as aurally identifying basic musical intervals and rhythms; exposure to multiple genres and styles of vocal music; practice in memorization and song preparation for performance; and gaining performance experience through recitals, showcases, and other events.

Chamin

The lesson offers exploration into various genres such as rock, K-pop, musical theatre, and more based on your preferences. It caters to singers of all levels and musical backgrounds, from beginners to professionals across most genres. Chamin personalizes the curriculum to focus on the genre you wish to master, guiding students to sing in a healthy, natural manner that fosters freedom and enjoyment. Her coaching includes techniques for safe singing, harnessing one’s authentic voice, and enhancing performance confidence. Each student receives tailored instruction in breathing, vocal warm-ups, voice techniques, rhythm, stage presence, and storytelling, ensuring comprehensive skill development suited to their individual needs.

Ailin Palacios

In her lessons, Ailin provides students with the tools she has refined through her training, empowering them to maximize their vocal instrument. Ailin emphasizes that unlike other musical instruments, the voice isn’t visible during performance, underscoring the importance of listening and bodily self-perception in mastering effective vocal use. Understanding how the body reacts to different stimuli is crucial for achieving desired vocal tones.

The first part of the class involves personalized vocal exercises (vocalizations) guided by Chamin at the piano, allowing exploration of various aspects of vocal technique. In the second part of the lesson, these techniques are applied to a song chosen by the student.
