Sofia Salvo
Saxophonist and Improvisation Artist
Sofia Salvo, a talented saxophonist and improvisation artist, began her musical journey at the age of 12, mastering the saxophone through training at the Conservatory of Classical Music and the Jazz School in Buenos Aires, South America. Blending institutional training with experimental exploration, Sofia cultivated a distinct sound from a young age.
Musical Versatility and Teaching Experience
Part of a vibrant funk and groove collective in Argentina, Sofia effortlessly traverses diverse genres, from tango to orchestral to free jazz. With over a decade of teaching experience, she tailors engaging lessons to each student’s interests, fostering their musical growth.
International Collaborations and Performances
Since relocating to Berlin in 2019, Sofia has collaborated with musicians worldwide, diving into free improvisation and experimental music. As a dynamic baritone saxophonist, she graces stages across Europe at renowned festivals like Leipziger Jazztage and Pancevo Jazz Fest. Moreover, Sofia curates alternative events and concerts, pushing artistic boundaries.
At the Global Music Academy Sofia offers lessons in saxophone instruction to students of all levels, both individually and in groups.

William Ramsay
Saxophonist and Composer
William Ramsay is a saxophonist, composer, and the art director of the Global Music School, where he also serves as the pedagogical director of the Global Music Campus projects. He is responsible for developing and implementing the curriculum.
Educational Background and Teaching Experience
William studied at the California Institute of the Arts and has taught at the Federated Union of Black Arts in South Africa, the California Institute of the Arts, and directed the world music program at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin. He has a special interest in the music of Africa and the African Diaspora and regularly conducts workshops on African, Afro-Brazilian, and Afro-Cuban music.
Leadership Roles
From 2008 to 2010, William served as the musical director of the International Literature Festival in Berlin. Since 2012, he has worked as a pedagogical advisor for the ‘Music Crossroads Academy’ under the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In this role, he oversees a two-year professional teacher training program for African music in Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Ethiopia.
