Trombone

From Renaissance to Jazz: Find Your Voice at the Global Music Academy

Discover the powerful, voice-like sound of an instrument that has shaped music for centuries.

The trombone is a very old brass instrument which has been used in many kinds of music from the Renaissance onwards. In the early days it was favoured in church music due to its similarity with the human voice. It became an essential part of the classical orchestra, as well as in brass bands throughout the world. During the twentieth century it became established as a central voice in jazz and latin music.

Trombone lessons are offered at the Global Music Academy for all levels of players, from beginners to advanced. Beginners learn the essential principles of all brass instruments, how to produce a good tone and how to let natural breath carry the music. Students start playing songs and pieces right from the start. Music is chosen to fit the level and the interests of the students. Those who are interested in improvisation and jazz will receive exercises and guidance in these areas.
