Linchi Yang
Expert in Guqin and Traditional Chinese Music
Linchi Yang, from Chengdu City in Sichuan Province, China, received his Guqin training at Konglin Guqin Pavilion in Wenshu Monastery. This school, part of the “Shu” School tradition, is led by Zeng Chengwei, the contemporary descendant of the “Shu” lineage. Linchi furthered his studies by traveling across China, engaging with various Guqin masters to deepen his knowledge and practice. In Chengdu, he began teaching Guqin and spreading his expertise alongside Cui Jiang, a noted “Shu” School Guqin musician.
Academic Background and Research
With a professional background in Chinese Literature, Philosophy, and Religion, Linchi Yang explores the intersections of religious ritual, ritual music, and the philosophical connections between Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. His research focuses on the practice of Guqin, examining its relationship with Daoism, and its impact on the body’s rhythm and situational context.
