We’re back with the Gamelan workshop and this time it’s a bit different!
The workshop will be held over 4 sessions in 4 days, and everyone is welcome, no prior experience needed.
The Javanese Gamelan is one of Indonesia’s largest traditional music ensembles, loved for its deep bronze gongs, vibrant percussion, and the sense of community it creates where beginners and experts can play together. In this workshop, participants will explore traditional repertoire, diving into the rich musical culture of Gamelan.

The workshop will be conducted by Xin Wei, who plays, writes, and teaches Gamelan in Berlin and Hamburg. Xin Wei has trained in Surakarta (Solo), Central Java, via classes at the Institut Seni Indonesia, private lessons with prominent musicians, and immersion in the city’s vibrant musical life.
